Day 2:: Mumbai

I found my travel notebook and thought I should get back to posting my bits and pieces... I started months ago but since then have moved house, turned thirty and am staving off epilepsy so my focus has been a little scattered... ok here goes... 2nd day Mumbai...

Hotel New Bengal.

Lots of waking up in the night. Goats. (Of course... doesn't everyone get woken up by goats late at night in the middle of a city of 20+ million people...) People talking. I don't think Mumbai sleeps at all. Alarm went at 7 am. We can't waste a minute. It was hot and stuffy in the room. 2 low beds. Hard. View looking out into alley way full of rubbish. And I could hear the goats down there somewhere...

Showered and repacked for the train journey tonight. Headed out into the city at 8.30ish. Ran into Hot Brazillian Boy and hit the town. The three of us went walking. We didn't stop til 6ish for dinner. We ate breakfast after visiting the Victoria terminus where we booked the train tickets to Mt Abu. Headed down to the Gateway to India. Walked through the fort area and Colaba. Ate lunch. (Finger cheeps... the first of many plates of finger cheeps). Ate lunch. Watched a ragged looking couple feeding Kytes from a skip.

Saw a small arts festival. A few good local artists. Very similar to a street art festival anywhere... Went to the Maidens to watch the cricket and photographed the laziest dog in India. Tried my hardest to explain to Hot Brazillian Boy the fundamentals of cricket... and exactly what I dislike about it...

Long taxi ride to train station. Train left at 9. Back so sore! Not used to pack and walking. Must get pack fit or die!

Top shots. You do have the 'eye' and I mean that in a non-spooky-not-at-all-randomly-snatch-from-eye-socket kind of way. The photographers eye that is.

Thank you. I was kinda in the zone in India. Am still printing things out to put on the fridge! I do have fantasies about painting some of them up but that might be a bit ambitious at this point... ;-P
